WHAT MAKES THIS PIZZA KETO?

First and foremost, this pizza uses fathead dough, which is high in fat and terrifically low in carbs. If you’ve never had it, it’s a great dough alternative that makes this pizza possible.

Secondly, it uses high fat, low-carb toppings to keep the sugar count low but the taste factor high!

WHAT IS FATHEAD DOUGH?

Fathead dough originally debuted as part of the movie “Fathead,” though the recipe debuted on the blog that followed the movie. The movie, a bit of a spoof on “Super Size Me,” discusses the effects of eating a low-carb diet.

The dough is gluten free, low-carb high fat, and super keto-friendly. And, the best part is, it’s super versatile. It can make pizza crusts (like this one), cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, tortilla chips, and much more!

KETO PIZZA INGREDIENTS

Before you try to make this recipe, make sure you have all of the ingredients on hand to make all three parts; crust, marinara, and toppings.

Check the recipes linked below for the ingredients needed for each of those.

After you have all of this, you’re set and ready to go!

CAN I USE CANNED MARINARA SAUCE INSTEAD?

Yes, you sure can! We recommend Rao’s simply because it’s one of the best sauces we’ve ever tried and doesn’t have any filers or extra ingredients.

If you have a canned or pre-made marinara sauce you prefer, you can certainly use it. Of course, make sure to check it for sugar and carbohydrate content so you don’t add unnecessary sugars to your pizza.

WHAT OTHER SAUCES COULD I USE?

While we use marinara for this recipe, you can definitely use a couple other types of sauces to create a delicious pizza.

  • Sugar-free barbecue sauce – barbecue chicken pizza is delicious! Using sugar-free sauce is a must, though.
  • Low-carb, keto Alfredo sauce – a white pizza is just what the doctor ordered. You can use the sauce ingredients in this recipe to make a delicious low-carb, keto Alfredo sauce.
