CAN I USE FROZEN BEEF PATTIES?
Sure you can. Depending on how “clean” you are trying to eat, however, make sure you take a hard look at the ingredients on frozen beef patties.
Not all pre-made beef patties are made the same. Some will be simply beef (as they should be) and others will have extra added ingredients and fillers.
Be cautious of any patties that aren’t 100% beef and contain anything except salt. Some might even hide ingredients in a label of “other spices.”
There’s nothing wrong with pre-made, frozen patties, but just be sure to do your homework before buying a box.
OTHER WAYS TO COOK THE HAMBURGER PATTY
While we recommend a skillet for this recipe, there are definitely plenty of other ways to cook your hamburger.
Here are a few ideas for you if you’re looking for a different way to cook your burger.
ON THE GRILL
The most obvious way to cook your hamburger without using the stove is on the grill. This, of course, is easy, convenient (during warm months), and requires little to no cleanup after you’re done.
A total win-win!
If you’re choosing the grill, then you probably know exactly how you like to cook your burgers on the grill. So, cook them the way you normally would and then cook the bacon and egg separately.
Easy! And, you get the weird looks from your neighbors for grilling first thing in the morning!
ON A GRIDDLE
If you have a griddle, that’s another great way to make your hamburger. This is especially handy when you’re cooking in the winter time or if the weather outside is bad.
For the griddle, heat it to 300˚F and place the burger patty on. Cook until its done to your personal preferences.
The nice thing about a griddle is the space to cook your bacon and egg while the burger is cooking. You’ll definitely want to start the bacon a touch before the burger (for extra crispy bacon) or right after the burger for less crisp.
The egg, of course, you can cook as the burger is finishing.
Easy, convenient, and quick!
CAN I SEASON MY HAMBURGER?
Of course you can! You can easily add any number of other spices to make this recipe your very own.
Here are a few ideas for some seasonings you might add to this delicious breakfast burger:
- Garlic; minced or powdered
- Paprika; smoked or regular (we vote for smoked!)
- Cayenne pepper
- Crushed red pepper
- Ground jalapeno (for a nice kick)
- Salt (though you will get salt from the bacon)
- Fresh ground black pepper

AVOID HIGHLY PROCESSED CHEESE
When choosing a cheese to go with this breakfast burger, be cautious of the highly processed cheeses that can be readily found in your grocery store.
WHAT IS HIGHLY PROCESSED CHEESE?
Highly processed cheeses are those that are manufactured to have a long shelf life and look like a real cheese. Two of the most popular versions are American Singles and (although not sliced) Velveeta.
These processed cheeses are actually considered “food products” made from cheese. They also contain emulsifiers, saturated vegetable oils, extra salt, food colorings, whey or sugar.
As a result, many flavors, colors, and textures of processed cheese exist.
WHY SHOULD I AVOID IT?
The better question here is why should you eat it? It’s not real and it has no real nutritional value.
Missing out on all of the added ingredients definitely won’t hurt. And, regardless, you’ll be leaving behind plenty of useless added sugars in each slice.
WHAT SHOULD I EAT WITH THIS BREAKFAST BURGER?
This breakfast burger recipe is definitely a meal all to itself. However, if you are looking for something to pair with this recipe, here are a few ideas you might be interested in.
- Low-Carb Fries (for a real burger eating experience)
