Egg roll in a bowl is a delicious low carb inspired dish that basically removes the most carb heavy part of an eggroll; the wrapper.

This dish combines some of the most delicious ingredients into a super easy meal that anyone can make and everyone will love!

IS GARLIC CHILI SAUCE THE SAME AS SRIRACHA?

On the surface, no.

In fact, this question was the topic of a huge debate on the online forum, Reddit. Tons of people weighed in their thoughts on the topic. Most answers focused on the differences in the taste or the consistency of each sauce.

One answer stood out amongst the rest. It was simple, concise, and made a ton of sense.

Redditor “hatheaded” wrote the following:

Sriracha contains added sugar, which is then fermented to yield a sour note. Chili garlic paste doesn’t contain added sugar and is not fermented.

I tend to think of chili garlic paste as a seasoning/base ingredient to be cooked into or incorporated into the dish, and sriracha as a condiment, for the person eating the meal to add as they see fit. There’s no reason you couldn’t use the one for the other, though.

And, in short order, there you have it. The sauces contain most, if not all of the same ingredients. The main difference is the one thing we hate on keto/low-carb diets; sugar.

They are interchangeable as far as taste is concerned, so why not always use the one that has no added sugar?

CAN I USE BEEF OR CHICKEN IN THIS RECIPE INSTEAD OF PORK?

You sure can! Either one would work just as well.

Using ground beef or ground chicken will change the nutritional content, however, so make sure you re-calculate that information if you make one of these substitutions.

WHY DOESN’T THIS RECIPE INCLUDE AN EGG?

This recipe doesn’t include an egg simply for ease of cooking. If you want, you can easily add an egg to the recipe!

To do this, you’ll need to do the following.

Before removing the egg roll mix from the skillet, create a circular opening in the mix in the middle of the skillet. Crack an egg (or two, if you wish) in the opening and scramble the egg over low heat.

Gently stir the scrambled egg into the rest of the egg roll mixture before serving.
