WHAT IS TARTAR SAUCE?

Tartar sauce is a condiment primarily composed of mayonnaise and (traditionally) finely chopped capers. The flavor can also be achieved by the addition of onion, dill, and parsley.

Most commonly, it is used as a dipping sauce for fried or broiled seafood dishes.

The name of the sauce originates in 13th century Europe from the Golden Horde. This was a group of Mongols who were known to the locals as the Tartars.

Keto tarter sauce is a keto version of the popular seafood dipping sauce. Normally, the sauce contains sweet pickle relish, as well as added sugars and non-essential ingredients.

This recipe replaces the sweet pickles with dill relish and removes any unnecessary added ingredients.

The sauce should easily keep for 5 – 7 days. You may see some separation due to the homemade mayo, but don’t worry. A quick stir will reincorporate any separated liquids back into the sauce.
