Keto peppermint hot chocolate is the perfect mint-chocolate drink for those cold winter months! Super delicious and easy to make!
WHAT IS KETO PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE?
Peppermint hot chocolate is a delicious, chocolaty drink just like your favorite hot chocolate, but with yummy peppermint.
Many traditional peppermint hot chocolate recipes use pre-packaged hot chocolate mix and want you to add some form of peppermint candy like a candy cane.
This recipe, however, does away with any form of pre-packaged mix. You’ll use unsweetened almond milk and heavy cream for the liquid base and unsweetened cocoa powder for the delicious chocolate.
A dash of peppermint extract adds the delicious peppermint taste without the need for candy or other flavorings.

DOES THIS CONTAIN ANY KIND OF PEPPERMINT CANDY?
No, it does not. Instead of using some form of candy, we use peppermint extract instead.
No added sugars or ingredients that way!
CHOOSING A GOOD PEPPERMINT EXTRACT
Anytime you are using a flavoring extract, you’ll want to look for a couple of things. Here are some things to watch out for.
ORGANIC DOESN’T REALLY MEAN MUCH
Many extracts (and other foods/food additives) are falling over themselves to be labeled organic.
For some products, this label really means something. For others, like extracts, it doesn’t always mean what you may think it does.
The simplest extracts you can buy usually contain two ingredients: alcohol and the extract oil. That’s it.
In taking a look at several organic extracts, they actually contain more ingredients, which aren’t always low-carb or keto-friendly.
Extra oils and additives aren’t doing much to simplify the product and definitely aren’t organic.
FLAVORING ISN’T A TRUE EXTRACT
Sometimes you’ll find extracts that are actually flavorings, but with the extract label. These normally are hard to spot unless you always take a look at the ingredients.
As mentioned above, a good extract should only contain alcohol and the extract oil.
In the “knock off” extracts, you might find alcohol and a flavoring instead of an oil. Again, this isn’t a real extract since the flavoring should be considered an added ingredient.
