WHAT IS CRUSTLESS QUICHE?

Crustless quiche is a delicious breakfast recipe, without the carb-filled crust. The dish goes by lots of other names, such as egg bake, egg casserole, and oven omelet.

Quiche is very simple: it’s baked eggs and milk (or in this case heavy cream).

The best part is, no crust means getting rid of tons of dreadful carbs!

KETO THREE CHEESE CRUSTLESS QUICHE INGREDIENTS

Before you try to make this keto crustless quiche, make sure you have the following ingredients on hand:

  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 oz pepper jack cheese
  • 4 oz parmesan cheese
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

After you have all of this, you’re set and ready to go!

HOW TO MAKE THREE CHEESE QUICHE

  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F
  2. Grease a 9×9 pan, pie pan, or individual tart dishes with butter or coconut oil
  3. Using a hand mixer, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, heavy whipping cream, garlic powder, and onion powder
  4. In a separate bowl, add eggs, salt, and pepper, and mix with a whisk until well incorporated
  5. Add cheese and stir
  6. Pour cream cheese mixture into the bowl with eggs and mix until thoroughly mixed
  7. Pour into the baking dish and bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until lightly browned on top
  8. If using individual tart dishes, bake time will vary depending on the size of the dish, so just keep an eye on quiche color and consistency for doneness
  9. Remove from oven, let cool a few minutes, and enjoy!

ISN’T CRUSTLESS QUICHE JUST A FRITATTA?

Well, at first glance, it might seem that way.

However, the two have different textures due to the ingredients used in the recipes. Fritattas are basically the consistency of omelets or straight baked eggs.

Quiches are creamier and lighter thanks to the cream used in the mixture.

CAN YOU FREEZE CRUSTLESS QUICHE?

While it’s possible, freezing keto three cheese crustless quiche isn’t the best idea. Egg dishes, as a rule, freeze “just ok.”

When egg dishes are thawed and/or reheated, they normally release water which can change the texture and taste of the dish. If this doesn’t bother you, then freezing quiche could be an option.

To freeze the quiche, cool it in the refrigerator first. Then, wrap the quiche tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and transfer to the freezer.

Before trying to reheat quiche after its stay in the freezer, let it begin the thawing process in the fridge overnight.

HOW TO REHEAT KETO CRUSTLESS QUICHE

There are two main methods to reheat your quiche leftovers.

IN THE OVEN

The best (though not the quickest) way to reheat your crustless quiche is in the oven.

Using an oven to reheat meat and eggs is the best way since it heats slower. This helps to not dry out the eggs and helps the quiche retain more moisture.

Preheat your oven to 350˚F and place whatever leftovers you want to reheat inside.

Heat for 10 minutes before removing to check the temperature of the leftovers. Continue to heat until the desired temperature is reached.

IN THE MICROWAVE

The obvious method is to use the microwave.

It will get your quiche leftovers warm quickly, and you’ll be ready to eat in no time. However, anytime you microwave meat or eggs, you are running the risk of making it tough and drying it out.

Microwave your leftovers in 30-second increments until they reach your desired temperature. Eat and enjoy!

THINGS TO ADD TO KETO QUICHE

Cheesy quiche is delicious, but there’s plenty of ways to make it even more delicious and filling.

Here are some ideas of things to add to your quiche for extra fats and/or flavor!

  • Pork chorizo, browned and fat removed
  • Spinach, wilted and drained
  • Italian sausage, browned and fat removed
  • Mushrooms, sliced

Can this be cut down by half or even half again? I am but one person and eating 8 eggs or eating this dish for several days in a row does not appeal. So, just curious.

Can I substitute evaporated milk for heavy cream?

Unfortunately not. Evaporated milk has a lot of carbs in comparison to heavy cream.
