WHAT IS KETO CHIPOTLE SAUCE?

Chipotle sauce is (usually) a sauce made by combining mayonnaise, sour cream, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, and a few other ingredients. The sauce is creamy, slightly spicy, and smoky.

Some recipes call for the use of yogurt, which isn’t the best low-carb/keto option.

The sauce can be used alongside any number of Mexican-inspired recipes, or as a dipping sauce or marinade. It takes only a few minutes to make, but is packed with delicious flavor!

After you have all of this (including the mayo ingredients) you’re set and ready to go!

HOW CAN I MAKE THIS HAVE A STRONGER CHIPOTLE TASTE?

In order to make this have a stronger taste, you’ll want to up the number of chipotle peppers you include in the mixture. Instead of three, as the recipe mentions, add 4 or 5 and see how that tastes.

Do know, adding more adobo chipotle peppers into the recipe will increase the carb count. If you decide to add more peppers, you’ll want to recalculate the nutritional information.

IS THIS THE SAME THING AS A CHIPOTLE AIOLI?

No, this is not the same thing as a chipotle aioli. Mayonnaise is made in a blender, while an aioli starts with crushed garlic.

The garlic is then whipped with a whisk into many of the same ingredients as mayonnaise including egg yolk, lemon juice, mustard and olive oil instead of canola.

Aioli is typically served as a dip for vegetables, boiled eggs, and shellfish. Mayo is typically used as an ingredient and/or spread for different applications.

STORING LEFTOVER CHIPOTLE SAUCE

The best way to store leftover sauce is in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. You’ll want to make sure to refrigerate it after making since it contains several ingredients that can’t be left out at room temperature.

When using your chipotle sauce after it’s been refrigerated, give it a quick stir to ensure its properly mixed. Sometimes the different ingredients can start to separate after a short while.

IS CHIPOTLE SAUCE SPICY?

Not really, no. It does have a small amount of “heat” to it, but nothing overwhelming. Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce have a nice savory, smoky flavor to them, which overrules any spice they may have.

Unless you can’t stand any spice or heat at all, this sauce definitely shouldn’t be considered spicy.
